Effect of Aqueous Soluted Nitriding Process on AISI 304 Austenitic Stainless Steel under Dry Sliding Conditions

چکیده
AISI 304 stainless steel categorized under austenitic, has good resistance to corrosion and applicable for high pitting stresses. But it poor hardness, sterngth wear. In order overcome the above problem, various hardening techniques like nitriding, carburizing, carbonitriding, Cyaniding etc are preferred. this work, aqueous soluted nitriding process is carried out improve surface hardness wear on specimens. Three specimens in cylindrical shape with a diameter of 10mm length 35mm treated salt bath time period 45 minutes, 90 120 minutes named as SBN 1, 2, 3 respectively. One specimen kept untreated compare results After heat treatment procedure completed, pin disc testing instrument was used conduct test at constant speed load. All were subjected Scanning Electron Microscope compared.
